JOB SUMMARY:
The Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting extrusion equipment to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and in compliance with standard operating conditions. This role includes driving forklifts safely, maintaining records, performing product turnarounds, and actively participating in safety, quality, and housekeeping initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely operate forklifts and contribute to workplace housekeeping Set up one or two extruders for production runs according to standard operating procedures Monitor and troubleshoot extrusion processes to minimize downtime and product loss Stop production and engage in problem-solving when safety or quality issues arise, in collaboration with shift supervisor, maintenance, safety, and other operators Perform product turnarounds, including cleaning extruder barrels, screws, feeders, pelletizers, classifiers, reclaimer systems, automatic baggers, and product totes to prevent contamination Maintain accurate records, including run logs, feed blends, product quantities, packaging reports, work orders, and logbooks Communicate important operational issues to incoming operators Review and adhere to policies and procedures related to SOPs, hazardous communication, and waste disposal Comply with all safety and health policies, participate in company safety programs, and report potential hazards to management REQUIRED SKILLS:
High school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license for forklift operation Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Knowledge of extrusion processes and equipment setup Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills Ability to troubleshoot mechanical processes Understanding of safety, hazardous communication, and waste disposal procedures PREFERRED SKILLS:
Previous forklift experience Extrusion experience 5 years of manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of education
