Position Overview

The Charlotte Hornets are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director of Video Production to lead all facets of video content creation across basketball, business and brand verticals. Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Media, this leader will oversee a multidisciplinary team of producers, editors and videographers responsible for capturing and delivering compelling video content that authentically tells the story of our brand in the community, through partnered content and on the court.

The Senior Director will shape and execute a production strategy that supports the organization’s goals, aligns with our brand voice and resonates with our diverse and passionate fanbase. This role requires strong creative instincts, operational excellence and a collaborative leadership style to partner cross-functionally with departments including Basketball Operations, Community Impact, Partnerships, Marketing, Game Presentation and Communications.

Leadership & Strategy

Lead the vision, planning and execution of the team’s video production strategy across basketball, feature/long-form storytelling and brand-related content. Develop and maintain a consistent creative style, tone and quality across all video output aligned with the Hornets brand identity. Supervise and grow a talented in-house video team and manage external freelancers, vendors and production partners as needed. Collaborate with the VP of Digital Media on high-level content planning, seasonal campaigns and brand storytelling strategy. Storytelling

Drive compelling, narrative-based content that emotionally connects with fans, players, partners and the broader community. Identify and shape story arcs that elevate the brand, celebrate player journeys, spotlight community impact and highlight the culture of the organization. Ensure storytelling is authentic, inclusive and aligned with the Hornets voice and values. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with:

Basketball Operations to deliver practice, game, training and player profile content. Marketing & Brand on campaign-driven creative and long-form storytelling. Game Presentation to create compelling in-arena video content. Corporate Partnerships to produce branded content that delivers value to sponsors. Community Impact to spotlight programs and initiatives in the community. Communications & PR to ensure that key messages and narratives are woven into storytelling across content, helping to shape and amplify the team’s public voice. Production Oversight

Oversee the full production pipeline, from pre-production and shoot logistics to post-production, delivery, and archive. Manage production schedules, team workflows and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects. Ensure all content is optimized for distribution across social, web, in-arena, OTT and partner platforms. Implement and maintain quality control and versioning standards for internal and external use. Team Management & Development

Coach, mentor and inspire a high-performing team of producers, shooters and editors. Lead performance management, hiring and professional development of production staff. Foster a collaborative and flexible work environment, jumping in to support other departments as needed. Serve as a key member of the team, helping shape organizational culture and strategy. Demonstrate professionalism and uphold HSE brand standards in all interactions and deliverables. Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies associated with the essential functions of this job.

10+ years of experience in video production with a focus on storytelling, branded content and sports or entertainment 5+ years in a leadership role managing production teams and workflows Production agency experience, preferred Strong creative and editorial judgment with a passion for sports, storytelling, and innovation Demonstrated experience managing productions from concept through post, including budgeting, scheduling and staffing Deep understanding of content strategy and platform best practices across digital, social, in-arena and broadcast Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and current production tools and techniques Experience in camera operation, lighting, audio and post-production (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, etc.).

Familiarity with motion graphics, live production and short- and long-form video storytelling Ability to manage multiple priorities and pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of cloud-based media management and collaborative editing systems Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Comfortable directing talent and players, including on-camera coaching and managing sensitive timelines. Results-driven, with a focus on exceeding revenue targets. Presents self in professional manner and have ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts. Innovative and strategic thinker with a passion for the entertainment industry. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and select holidays
