Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license and School Bus / Monitor Physical Fitness Certificate. Satisfactory criminal records check. Negative pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Minimum 21 years of age. CPR certification-Will Train Position Goal:

To assist with the safe transportation of Danville Community Students

Performance Responsibilities:

Must report for duty no less than five minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Must know and follow all safety rules and directions for the transportation department as found in the Danville Community School Corporation Transportation Department employee Handbook. Assist bus drivers with proper student management and enforcement of all bus safety rules as found in the Danville Community School Corporation Transportation department employee handbook. Assist drivers to establish and document student seating charts. Assist student on and off the bus; bus aide is responsible for the student from the time they leave the ground entering the bus until they depart the bus. Assist students with and assure that all students are properly secured in all applicable occupant restraint systems. Observe and manage student welfare. Demonstrate exemplary attendance and conduct. Advise the Transportation Director of any student concerns. Check the bus after every route or trip for sleeping children. Must maintain confidentiality. Must refrain from gossip, spreading rumors or hearsay and creating dissension. Assume all other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds routinely, 36-49 pounds occasionally, and 50 plus pounds with team assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
