Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the

Compliance Specialist

ensures all plant activities are conducted safely, in full compliance with environmental permits and NERC regulatory standards. This role supports operations and maintenance by implementing, coordinating, and performing compliance functions related to safety, environmental performance, and regulatory adherence. The Compliance Specialist serves as a key resource for plant personnel, promoting safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and oversee safety, health, environmental, and NERC compliance programs. Prepare and submit environmental and regulatory reports for Plant Manager review and approval. Manage training programs related to safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance. Develop and enforce facility safety programs including LOTO, confined space, hot work, PPE, and chemical safety. Operate and maintain CEMS/DAHS systems, ensuring proper functionality and data integrity. Ensure proper sampling, documentation, and reporting of waste shipments and discharges in accordance with legal and company requirements. Provide safety oversight for contractor personnel on-site. Investigate incidents and prepare reports in accordance with the Safety Manual for Accident Reporting. Recommend and evaluate plant equipment or procedural modifications to improve safety and environmental compliance. Maintain the Environmental QA/QC Manual and ensure adherence to all applicable regulations. Manage and update plant safety and environmental records, maintaining both electronic and hardcopy archives. Maintain electronic systems for safety and environmental data management. Review and maintain plant regulatory procedures related to Safety, Environmental, and NERC standards. Contribute to the budgeting process by identifying necessary improvements for compliance programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

Minimum of 5 years' experience in compliance within operating facilities, preferably in the power generation or related industry. Solid understanding of power plant operations and the integration of NERC, safety, environmental, and business continuity requirements. Working knowledge of major safety and environmental regulations (air, water, hazardous materials, waste management), with expertise in at least one regulatory area. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated planning and organizational abilities. Proven analytical skills, attention to detail, decision-making capability, and ability to meet deadlines.
