Title: Athletics Admissions Counselor Reports to: Senior Associate Director of Admissions

The Athletics Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and leading recruitment efforts to enroll student-athletes and first-year students at Knox College. This position increases the College’s visibility by identifying and recruiting strong athletic candidates, while also building relationships with counselors, coaches, consultants, alumni, and families. The counselor guides students and parents through the admission and financial aid process, ensuring a supportive and informed experience. As a key public-facing, revenue-generating role, the position carries measurable enrollment goals and may be performed on campus or in a hybrid format.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and implement recruitment strategies for student-athletes and assigned territories, including marketing, communications, events, and partnerships with schools and community organizations.

Build and sustain relationships with prospective students and families through phone, text, email, video, and in-person engagement throughout the admission process.

Partner with the Senior Associate Director of Admissions and the Director of Athletics to set and achieve application, enrollment, and athletic recruitment goals.

Collaborate with coaches across all programs to support their recruitment efforts and provide guidance on the admissions process.

Conduct holistic application reviews, evaluating academic records, test scores, essays, recommendations, and other application materials within the Slate CRM.

Represent Knox College at college fairs, information sessions, school visits, community events, and admission interviews, including frequent evening and weekend commitments (15–20% of the time).

Support the Campus Visit Team and the Ambassador Program by presenting to prospective students, conducting interviews, assisting with large-scale visit events, and collaborating on ambassador training and engagement.

Advise students in evaluating Knox as a potential academic and personal fit, including navigating admission and financial aid processes.

Track progress toward recruitment goals and contribute to data-driven assessments of athletic and regional outreach initiatives.

Serve as a visible ambassador for Knox College by cultivating relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, independent educational consultants, and alumni.
