The Senior Medical Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our neurology strategy, leading clinical programs dedicated to neurodegenerative diseases. Key responsibilities include:
Defining strategic direction for neurology programs throughout their development phases.
Overseeing the global planning and execution of clinical development projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory compliance.
Building and nurturing robust relationships with prominent scientific leaders and investigators.
Accountability to senior management for creating strategies, research plans, budgets, and ensuring data deliverables are met.
Supporting and overseeing the preparation of regulatory submission documents in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to implement best practices within the R&D organization.
Supervising data monitoring and ensuring thorough data collection throughout clinical trials.
Directly monitoring trials through operational teams while maintaining oversight of internal systems and CROs.
Contributing to the widespread dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations at scientific gatherings.
Identifying and recommending innovative solutions to enhance Neurocrine's strategies and competitive position in the field.
Managing clinical development team members, including MDs, clinical scientists, and data scientists, within a dynamic matrix environment.
Performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MD or equivalent degree with completed residency training and board certification in Neurology; fellowship training is preferred, along with 8+ years of experience in clinical drug development (Phases 1-3) within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, including significant senior leadership experience.
Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a relevant scientific field is preferred.
Proven track record in leading clinical programs focused on neurodegenerative diseases, specifically in drug development for Alzheimer’s disease, neurocognitive syndromes, and Parkinson’s disease.
Experience in developing various treatment modalities, including small molecules and biologic/genetic therapies, is desirable.
Extensive knowledge of clinical drug development processes, including planning, regulatory requirements, study design, biostatistics, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and oversight of both internal resources and CROs in study conduct.
Ability to thrive in a complex corporate environment, effectively engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Hands-on clinical and research expertise in neurology and related disorders.
Recognized success in fostering partnerships with collaboration partners, scientific organizations, and patient advocacy groups.
Broad and comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge theories and techniques in clinical drug development.
Capacity for creativity in problem-solving and analysis in challenging or novel situations.
Ability to influence both internal and external spheres on matters that affect Neurocrine’s objectives.
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills to clarify and present complex information effectively.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position ranges from $314,000 to $454,600, dependent on factors such as location, role complexity, job requirements, and individual experience and skills. Additionally, the position offers an annual bonus targeted at 35% of the base salary and eligibility for participation in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits include a retirement savings plan with company match, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, as well as comprehensive medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with plan terms.
