VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN YOUR AREA
There is an old saying that “If you need help, ask busy people – they can somehow find the time.” If you are someone who can find a bit of extra time for a worthy organization, please consider being a Hospice Volunteer in your area. This service to others is very rewarding. Patients and their families appreciate the gift of your time. Please make a difference during a difficult time in someone’s life by providing companionship and comfort for the patient and relief for their caregivers, for as little as four hours per month. We have different types of Volunteers opportunities, that each offer a different type of support to Hospice: Patient Volunteers Relieve primary care givers, so that they may take a break important asset as a listener, someone to talk and reminisce with, and to provide companionship and support to patients and their families Assist with light household tasks Inform team members of any concerns Prepare appropriate reports for each visit/contact Maintain absolute confidentiality Could pickup prescriptions or groceries if needed Some examples of support that Patient Volunteers do is having conversation with patient and/or caregiver, reading, puzzles, bedside art or music, life review projects, performing light chores, sitting with the Patient while Caregiver runs errands, or running errands for the Patient and/or Caregiver. Bereavement Volunteer provides support to grieving families through visits, phone calls, mailings, and special bereavement community events. Prepare appropriate reports for each visit/contact Maintain absolute confidentiality Office Volunteers Administrative tasks such as filing, copying, & phone support Miscellaneous tasks, mailings, putting together patient information packets Event Volunteers.
