In this role you will be responsible for supporting the design of software safety systems. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will work in a collaborative environment to develop a variety of aspects of electric (EV) and combustion (ICE) commercial vehicles. This includes systems such as powertrain control, high voltage management, and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and develop?safety architecture and?requirements for vehicle control systems

Perform safety analysis of vehicle control system designs

Support and coordinate across multiple disciplines and teams

Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.

Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.

Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

Ability to travel off-site to support engineering projects.?

Support supervisor, engineers, and other departments to execute job assignments.

Responsible for the design and implementation of software to meet various requirements which include: functionality, memory utilization, performance and maintainability

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, software, systems, or equivalent engineering degree

Outstanding Qualifications

Understanding of control system design and development

Able to work across multiple technical disciplines and roles

Experience in functional safety or implementation of safety software

Experienced with standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or MIL-STD-882E

Experience with failure modes and effects (FMEA) analysis or fault tree analysis (FTA)

Pay Range:

$63,500.00 - $101,700.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
