Purpose of Position
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating financial support from prospects, donors and other friends of Cape Cod Healthcare with emphasis on gifts of $25,000 or more.
Description 1. Develops strategy and a comprehensive plan to significantly increase major gift fundraising. 2. Manages a personal major gift pipeline of assigned major gift prospects and donors. 3. Develops strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and/or steward constituents using specific moves management practices to track activity and provide reports on outcomes. 4. Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. 5. Develops strategies to enhance relationships and upgrade levels, including individualized and focused stewardship contacts for existing major gift donors. 6. Works with CCHC board members, volunteers, senior leadership, Foundation staff, and community leaders to advance major gifts program. 7. Participates in the planning and implementation of the Foundation's strategic and annual operating plans. 8. Participates and supports Foundation's other fundraising programs as needed, including planned and annual giving initiatives and event participation and attendance. 9. Writes compelling proposals for solicitation of individual, corporate, and/or foundation prospects.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required • Minimum of 3 -5 years' experience in major gifts fundraising, sales or business development. • Proven ability to raise awareness for and generate significant financial support for non-profit needs. • Entrepreneurial fundraising experience necessary. • Experience with Microsoft Office platform and Blackbaud fundraising software. • Excellent interpersonal skills and successful experience in working with volunteers. • Extensive knowledge of fundraising principals, research, moves management process and charitable gift planning.
