Summary:
The Quality Technician is an essential part of the company's team. The quality technician supports all other company teams as well as professionally interacts with our suppliers and customers. The person working in this position will inspect parts brought into the quality lab, work on Gage and Capability Studies, calibrate gages, conduct audits, and use the computer to document data, record audit results, enter calibration information, and communicate progress on projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Follow all quality system and lab procedures.
2. Collaborate well with all team members in the company, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
3. Read, interpret, inspect, and test to customer prints, specifications, and other documents.
4. Run CMMs
5. Perform and document inspections and tests using various processes/procedures and gages including: micrometers, calipers, profilometers, CMMs, optical comparators, cleanliness testing, trace equipment, plug gages, thread gages, height gages, and other hand or electronic gages.
6. Conduct, compile, review, and report results on capabilities studies, gage studies, and part layouts.
7. Review SPC data, make decisions, communicate concerns, and work with teams to improve product and processes.
8. Lead/participate in audits, including: safety, product, layered process, tool change verification, gage, 5-S, dock, supplier, and internal quality system audits.
9. Lead and maintain product identification and reporting of nonconforming material and Material Review Board meeting activities.
10. Lead/participate in corrective action activities.
11. Communicate with suppliers on quality issues, corrective actions, and PPAP needs.
12. Participate in APQP activities.
13. Participate and oversee nonconforming containment/sort activities.
14. Coordinate and oversee 3rd party or temporary employee sort/inspection activities.
15. Create quality alerts and work instructions.
16. Assist with training activities inside and outside of the quality lab and department.
17. Setup, repair, and calibrate gages.
18. Use ERP system to perform scrap transactions, return product to suppliers, issue RMA numbers to customers, and make other inventory adjustments, as necessary.
19. Update and report on KPI metrics at defined frequencies.
20. Ability to multitask and make good decisions in a busy environment.
21. Ability to work overtime as needed.
22. Ability to work as a team with little supervision.
