Job Purpose Statement/s:
The position of High School Dean of Students if for the purpose/s of assisting students in their educational programs when faced with behavioral and attendance problems.
Essential Job Functions: Meet and Communicate regularly with students and families in response to discipline and attendance incidents at the high school. Work with the high school administration in preventing circumstances that interrupt student's educational progress. Respond to student referrals from teaching facility and work with staff members to improve every student's connection to the educational program. Develop and Coordinate an attendance referral system for high school students. Become familiar with and uphold the enforcement of school rules, Administrative Regulations and Board Policy. Job Requirements - Qualifications:
Experience Preferred:
Prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in school setting. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to appropriately manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, problem solve.
Knowledge of curriculum, educational codes, and district policies, and student and family needs associated with the high school experience.
Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, provide direction to others and make independent judgments, keep and maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds, communicate in oral and written form. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception and accommodation field of vision.
Ability to speak a second language preferred.
Licenses, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Proper TSPC Licensure required, valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.
Terms of Employment:
192 days per year. Salary to be established by collective bargaining agreement.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Licensed Staff Personnel.
