Job Summary

The goal of this role is to design best in class manufacturing systems that incorporate people, spaces, information tools, equipment, materials ensuring an effective and smart utilization of our resources. Through data driven design and execution this role can determine future footprint optimization, material and process flows as well as improved manufacturing workspaces and automation.

With data collection, deliver process time analysis, capacity models, operation standard work, balance charts and labor linearity plans for multiple volume capacity levels. This role works closely with all cross Functional teams including, Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT, MES, Product management and Safety to ensure systems designs include up to date standards, best practices, and requirements.

Scope

Responsible for creating and delivering manufacturing system designs for partial and full component assembly processes at all US & MX business locations.

Organize and implement engineering standards to ensure the proper designs, deployment and documentation executed by Plant Operations to meet budgeted staffing and productivity levels, strategic initiatives relate to process improvements to meet overall costs.

Coordinating with Product Engineering to support new product introduction in all phases including, concepts introduction, DFMEA and 3P workshops to deliver best in class manufacturing systems.

Job Duties

Create Manufacturing System Designs (60%)

Lead development and delivery of all key manufacturing processes:

Safety and ergonomic designs through use of scientific analysis

Detailed Station layouts that supports optimal balance of operator, machine and material flows

Material handling systems that supports single piece or small lot production with defined WIP levels

Manual tooling, fixtures and material racking

WIP controls, Material Handing standards and tools

Time measurements for all elemental work methods

Error proofing techniques at source

Packing materials and SOP’s

Support Plant Improvement and Capability activities (40%)

Kaizen workshops

Continuous improvement and Gemba walks

PFMEA and Control plans

Ergonomic and safety improvements

Strategic initiatives projects

Takt analysis

Precedence and manufacturing sequence diagrams

Process Flow Diagrams

Plant & detailed operator workstation and process layouts

Operator and Machine balance charts

Operator standard work diagrams

Capacity Planning Models

Plan for every part (PFEP)

Training and visual aides

Requirements Education and Experience

Industrial Engineering bachelors degree required, with industrial experience as a Process Engineer

Minimum of 4+ years of Industrial Engineering experience

Minimum of 2+ years manufacturing and engineering experience in designing and improving processes.

Demonstrated experience implementing change that yielded substantially lower cost, better space utilization, higher product flow and increased capacity without compromising quality.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be flexible and able to work independently and well with others (team environment). Must be organized, methodical, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work to an established timeline.

Skills Required:

Fluent in both Spanish & English

Strong knowledge & experience in Industrial Engineering tools and application to optimize the utilization and balance of operator standard work, equipment, materials and information flows based on Lean fundamentals and methodologies.

Ability to utilize analytical and creative thinking skills for effective decision-making.

Improve systematic processes through use of statistical analysis, interpersonal communication, design, planning, quality control, operations management, computer simulation, and problem solving.

Ability to be self-led and multitask to deliver results in a high paced environment.

Demonstrate leadership abilities to drive a culture of continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and costs

Demonstrated experience in Lean techniques reducing waste in all areas of the VSM.

Proven ability to drive (cultural) change; challenges the status quo and looks for ways to improve team and organizational performance; champions new initiatives and stimulates others to make changes.

Proven interpersonal skills

Proven communication skills (verbal and written)

Technical Writing

In depth knowledge of various manufacturing processes as they are used in the manufacture of window treatment products.

Manage work according to established project timelines.

Strong software skills in spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, and CAD.

Creativity is required to develop new processes and solutions in a timely fashion.
