Job Title: Environmental Scientist Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join our team in downtown Chicago. This role involves conducting soil, groundwater, and soil-gas sampling, overseeing soil excavation, and handling LUST removal, investigation, and reporting. You will also be responsible for completing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse and interesting projects.
Responsibilities
Conduct soil, groundwater, and soil-gas sampling.
Oversee soil excavation and confirmation sampling.
Handle LUST removal, investigation, and reporting.
Complete Phase I and Phase II ESA reports.
Engage in environmental monitoring and permitting activities.
Prepare detailed reports and documentation.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or Environmental Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years of field sampling experience with proficiency in report writing.
Experience in Phase I or Phase II ESA reporting is preferred.
Strong report writing skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation.
OSHA 40 certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in site assessments, groundwater sampling, and environmental remediation.
Knowledge of due diligence processes and environmental permitting.
Hazwoper certification is a plus.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work model, with 2-3 days in the office for training purposes, and a balance of 50% field and 50% office work. The team is based in the downtown Chicago office, and most projects are local to the Chicagoland area, minimizing overnight travel. You will have the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role, with potential for mentoring others. Mileage reimbursement is provided for using personal vehicles for closer project sites, and rental cars are budgeted for field travel. The work involves a variety of projects, including gas stations, municipal work, universities, class A railroads, and ongoing site remediation projects.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.69 - $36.06/hr.
