Job Description

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon provides surgical care for patients with complex dental, facial, and jaw conditions. This includes performing procedures such as wisdom tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma repair, and treatment of oral cancers. The role requires collaboration with other dental and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and defects of the oral and maxillofacial region. Perform surgical procedures including:

Tooth extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth) Reconstructive jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) Facial trauma repair Cleft lip and palate correction Removal of tumors and cysts Administer anesthesia and manage pain before, during, and after procedures. Collaborate with orthodontists, prosthodontists, and oncologists for integrated treatment plans. Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, and post-operative care. Maintain detailed patient records and stay current with advancements in surgical techniques and technologies. Skill and Competencies:

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. Experience

Completion of a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Licensure to practice in the relevant state or region.
