Job Title: Design Engineer Job Description
Our client, located in Columbus, Indiana, operates a production plant dedicated to manufacturing aluminum alloy wheels for the automotive industry. They produce aftermarket wheels for consumers and supply Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Honda, Nissan, Mazda, and Subaru. With potential new business from Toyota and involvement in motorsports, they supply wheels for various racing series, including Formula 1. We are seeking a Design Engineer to join the product development team, focusing on customer rim design. This role requires someone with over a year of experience, proficient in both CAD work and FEA, and adept at using simulation in both static and dynamic loading scenarios. A thorough understanding of GD&T principles is essential.
Responsibilities
Conduct CAD work and FEA for rim design.
Engage in simulations for static and dynamic loading scenarios.
Collaborate with other engineers in a team environment.
Maintain organization and attention to detail while managing multiple programs.
Address production runs and manufacturing issues as they arise.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering - BSME or BSMET.
1 to 5 years of experience with CAD software (Catia or Siemens NX).
Proficiency in GD&T and interpreting CAD drawings.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with aluminum materials.
Bilingual in Japanese.
Work Environment
The work environment is a well-designed office space with white interiors, green plants, and the client's wheels adorning the walls. The role is primarily office-based (85-90% of the time), with some time spent on the manufacturing floor and in the warehouse. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday, with standard hours from 8am to 4-5pm, offering some flexibility based on responsibility and reliability. The company offers excellent benefits and 401k upon full-time employment, and provides an opportunity to work on the entire process from conception to mass production.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
