Job Description This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for the current and/or upcoming academic year. While the department may not be actively recruiting at this time, applicants who meet all minimum qualifications and have submitted complete application materials will be contacted if a position becomes available.
Position Summary: The Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely operating a 12-passenger shuttle vehicle between a designated remote parking lot and the main college campus. The shuttle runs approximately every 30 minutes, with flexibility to increase frequency based on demand. This position is critical in providing a safe, secure, and reliable transportation experience, ensuring the well-being of students, staff, and visitors while promoting courteous and professional service at all times.
Key Responsibilities: Operate a 12-passenger shuttle vehicle along a fixed route between the remote parking lot and campus. Maintain a consistent shuttle schedule, adjusting frequency as needed to meet demand. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operability. Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the shuttle. Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers as needed (e.g., with mobility or luggage). Monitor and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and passenger counts. Communicate effectively with campus dispatch or supervisors regarding route changes, delays, or incidents. Attend safety meetings and training sessions as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Adhering to all traffic and driving regulations. Keeping the vehicle clean and well-maintained. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record, demonstrating a history of safe and responsible driving.-
MUST SUBMIT A DEPARTMENT OF VEHCILE DRIVER RECORD REQUEST WITH APPLICATION. REQUEST IT

Ability to clearly communicate directions, safety instructions, and information to passengers, and effectively interact with students, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Demonstrated familiarity with basic vehicle safety procedures, including pre-trip inspections, seatbelt checks, and safe passenger loading and unloading. Demonstrates punctuality and reliability, consistently reporting to scheduled shifts on time, and is able to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring safe and efficient shuttle operations. Knowledge of California driving laws, traffic regulations, and safety standards to ensure the safe transport of passengers..
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience operating passenger shuttles, vans, or similar vehicles. Physical Demands and Working Environment The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Environment: Primarily outdoors and in a vehicle; exposure to varying weather conditions.
Physical: Primary functions of the Shuttle Driver position require the ability to safely operate a shuttle vehicle for extended periods, including frequent sitting and occasional standing or walking. The role may require occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. The driver must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate objects, up to 25 pounds (e.g. equipment, or supplies). The position also requires sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate vehicle controls. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary to provide clear instructions, directions, and courteous interactions with students, staff, and visitors.
Vision:
Ability to see within the normal visual range, with or without correction. Vision must be sufficient to safely operate a shuttle vehicle, read computer screens, printed documents, and any other assigned equipment or instruments.
Hearing :
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Employment Requirements Required Applicant Documents: The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate. Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
2. Attach Department of Motor Vehicle Driver Record Request with application. 3. Must clear/pass District driving clearances and training before start date. 4. Must meet the age requirement for rental car coverage and meet all district insurance requirements (25 or older). 5. Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements is mandatory to be eligible for employment.
