NorthStar Academies in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a FT Schools Facilities Maintenance Technician for the NorthStar Academies Charter Schools in Florida!
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Schools Facilities Manager, the Schools Facilities Maintenance Technician ensures the safety, cleanliness and functionality of all the NorthStar Academies school facilities.
This role involves performing routine maintenance, minor repairs and inspections across school buildings, grounds and systems to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
Essential Responsibilities: Performs general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical tasks Responds promptly to general maintenance requests and emergency situations Conducts routine inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards Inspect building equipment, perform predictive and preventive maintenance, assess condition, and make minor adjustments on equipment Assist in coordinating projects around the school calendar including supporting third-party facility maintenance as well as after school, weekend, and summer programs Comply with all safety regulations, building codes, and school/district policies Installs and repairs minor plumbing fixtures on toilets, sinks, fountains, water piping, and other equipment and appliances Performs minor electrical repairs including changing electrical sockets, replacing light fixtures, light ballasts, emergency signage, and other worn electrical parts Performs or assists in the minor installation of new wires and circuitry, breakers, and control panels Makes minor non-technical repairs to buildings and fixtures, such as unplugging sinks and toilets, re-attaching appliances to walls, installing or adjusting blinds, lock mechanisms, and door openers Installs whiteboards, corkboards, clocks, and other wall accessories Adjusts shades and blinds as needed Replaces light bulbs Assist in the installation and minor repair of internal surfaces and facilities. Maintains clean and safe school grounds, including sidewalks, entrances, and parking lots May load, unload, and transport equipment, furniture, and various supplies Monitor school cleaning supply levels and inform supervisor when materials are needed Assist in the planning and coordination of maintenance-related projects and activities. All other duties as assigned. Key Relationships:

Required:
High School Diploma or GED required; 2+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities or similar filed; Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and perform physical daily tasks Benefits and other Perks:
