An established environmental consulting firm is conducting a

confidential search

for a

Senior Environmental Specialist

to lead diverse environmental projects across Georgia. This is a full-time exempt-level position requiring advanced knowledge in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related discipline.

The ideal candidate will bring technical depth, project management experience, and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements to support industrial, commercial, and government clients on environmental compliance and remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage

Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments , including off/on-site reconnaissance, interviews, sampling, and reporting. Conduct risk assessments, corrective action plans (CAPs), compliance status reports (CSRs), and closure reports. Perform soil, groundwater, and surface water investigations and contamination assessments. Oversee installation of monitoring wells and coordinate with certified laboratories for analytical testing. Support regulatory compliance through NEPA assessments, Brownfield applications, and HSRP reporting. Develop and implement health and safety programs and training as part of industrial hygiene services. Perform peer reviews, supervise junior staff, and ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance in deliverables. Manage UST closure activities including sampling, site characterization, and preparation of corrective action plans. Coordinate ecological services such as wetland delineation, mitigation planning, and stream buffer variances. Provide landfill consulting services, including hydrogeologic assessments and methane/gas monitoring plans. Maintain relationships with government agencies and remain current with environmental laws and regulations. Participate in proposal development and scope preparation for new projects. Handle multiple projects concurrently, including budget tracking, scheduling, and client communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field. Georgia PG and/or PE license required. 8-10 years of progressive environmental consulting experience. Demonstrated ability to evaluate, adapt, and apply scientific and engineering techniques independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proven track record of successful client relations and project execution. Involvement in at least one professional or business-related organization. Commitment to continuous education and professional growth.

Preferred Expertise in One or More Areas:

Wetlands, vapor intrusion, indoor air quality (IAQ), asbestos, Brownfields, and NEPA. Groundwater and surface water modeling. Industrial hygiene assessments, mold and IAQ surveys. Health and safety compliance, training, and emergency preparedness. Landfill hydrogeology and groundwater monitoring system design.
