We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - HVAC, Testing and Validation to join the TRATON R&D US Team!

In April 2023, TRATON embarked on an ambitious journey to integrate independent brand Research & Development (R&D) Organizations in Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus into a single global TRATON R&D organization.

By integrating the capabilities and resources of our brands, we will accelerate the introduction of new technologies and solutions to deliver the most competitive products and solutions to our customers.

The Senior Engineer - HVAC, Testing and Validation will lead and execute testing activities focused on the performance, reliability, and compliance of HVAC and vehicle cooling systems. Your expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of high-quality, high-performance systems for our next-generation vehicles.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed test plans and create innovative test procedures tailored to HVAC and cooling system evaluations

Execute validation activities according to engineering standards and project timelines

Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to assess system performance against design specifications and regulatory requirements

Prepare clear, accurate technical reports and communicate findings to cross-functional teams

Identify root causes of issues, develop corrective action plans, and propose solutions to improve system performance

Collaborate with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

Experience in HVAC system design or validation, or a strong foundation in HVAC principles through coursework and hands-on projects in automotive or heavy vehicle applications

Knowledge of HVAC control strategies and diagnostics and an understanding of thermal system components: compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, fans, etc.

Experience with prototype and production vehicle testing and validation, instrumentation setup (thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow meters, etc.)

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data acquisition tools (e.g., INCA, ETAS, or equivalent)

Data Analysis & Reporting for engineering reports and presentations MATLAB, Excel, or Python for data post-processing

Hands-on experience working in a laboratory or testing environment (instrumentation setup, data collection, troubleshooting)

Knowledge of heavy-duty truck or automotive systems is preferred

Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts through written reports and presentations
