Job : EHS Specialist

Location : Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite)

Type : Full Time Salary : DOE

Role Overview

The EHS Specialist is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving the environmental, health, and safety programs within our Pittsburgh facilities. This role ensures regulatory compliance, promotes a strong safety culture, and leads the implementation of EHS initiatives across the region. This is a multi-site role requiring regular travel and strong collaboration with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Auditing

Apply working knowledge of OSHA and PA environmental regulations.

Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EHS regulations, permits, and company policies.

Maintain accurate records in accordance with federal guidelines.

Engage with regulatory agencies through clear written and verbal communication.

Program & Policy Management

Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, including corrective actions and incident tracking.

Maintain EHS policies, procedures, job safety analyses (JSAs), and environmental management systems (ISO 14001).

Support EHS considerations in ongoing operations, equipment evaluations, and contractor oversight.

Training & Engagement

Organize and deliver training on environmental and safety topics.

Lead or participate in safety committees and promote compliance through leadership, coaching, and audits.

Strong communication and consultative skills across all organizational levels.

Risk Assessment & Technical Support

Conduct job hazard analyses and risk assessments.

Provide EHS guidance for new processes, equipment, and facility improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety roles within manufacturing; chemical industry experience .

Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

Proficient in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related sciences required
