The Maintenance Supervisor

leads the daily activities of the maintenance team within a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment, systems, and facilities are properly maintained to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The Maintenance Supervisor also upholds collective bargaining agreements and promotes strong, collaborative labor relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of union maintenance technicians and contractors.

Assign and prioritize work orders, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs in accordance with union rules and seniority provisions.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and parts inventory using CMMS.

Collaborate with union representatives and HR to resolve grievances and labor issues.

Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements in daily operations and decision-making.

Support continuous improvement initiatives while respecting negotiated work practices.

Train and mentor maintenance staff; provide input for performance evaluations in accordance with union guidelines.

Participate in labor-management meetings and support a collaborative work environment.

Respond to emergency maintenance issues and lead root cause analysis efforts.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within a unionized setting.

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

Experience working with CMMS and maintenance planning tools.

Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.

Proven ability to lead teams and manage labor relations effectively.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.

Work in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise).

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000

.???Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.?
