Job Title: Automation EngineerJob Description
The role involves creating detailed electrical designs and automation programming for various projects. You will be responsible for delivering accurate estimates and technical schedules for all phases of equipment addition, replacement, or upgrades. Your expertise will support plant maintenance teams by providing backup support and training for newly implemented automation systems. Collaboration with internal support groups and management of contract engineering resources will be key, as well as leading and participating in major capital projects and modifications from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Create detailed electrical designs and automation programming for assigned projects.
Provide accurate estimates and technical schedules for all phases of equipment addition, replacement, or upgrades.
Offer backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on newly implemented automation systems.
Collaborate with internal support groups and manage contract engineering resources as needed.
Lead and participate in major capital projects and modifications from inception to completion, including equipment reception, commissioning, and final acceptance.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience preferred.
Proficiency in electrical design standards; experience with CAD tools and SEE Electrical is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Rockwell PLC programming standards and software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text.
Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives and Motion Control technologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with Control Techniques, SEW MOVIMOT, and Rockwell is a plus.
Experience with HMI development, especially PanelView and FactoryTalkView ME Studio.
Skilled in configuring, programming, and communicating with control systems; Rockwell experience is a plus.
Familiarity with industrial network interfaces and communication protocols such as Data-Highway +, ControlNet, and Ethernet.
Experience with vision systems and sensors such as Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise is a plus.
Robotic system experience or knowledge is preferred; specific experience with Fanuc or ABB is a plus.
