$26.45 - $27.89 Organization Heading Home is Boston’s leading provider of housing and support services for infants to the elderly – a champion of innovative solutions that move people through and out of homelessness. Heading Home provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing, and supportive services to 2,000 homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals in Greater Boston, annually. The supportive services alongside housing helps clients create futures without homelessness. On any given night, Heading Home clients include 530+ households living stably with support in Greater Boston neighborhoods. Collaborative Team We are a highly intentional, relationship-based development team that works together to achieve our department’s goals. The Development Officer will round out our 6person development team at an exciting time, following five years of record-setting fundraising results and shift to a culture of philanthropy. Relationship Builder With the support and supervision of the Director of Major Gifts, the Development Officer will focus on cultivating and stewarding meaningful relationships with current annual fund donors, as well as develop a portfolio of prospects. A curious learner, s/he is authentically interested in others and their goals/interests. The ideal candidate is creative and interested in growing and developing their frontline fundraising skills. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a collaborative and creative fundraising team committed to building highly integrated, impact-based partnerships. Responsibilities: Portfolio management of annual fund donors Develop stewardship program for annual fund appeals and monthly giving program in coordination with the Director of Major Gifts Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events. Conduct research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and partners. Cultivate relationships with donors and supporters through personalized communication and stewardship efforts. Collaborate with team members to create compelling fundraising materials, including appeals, newsletters, and donor programs. Utilize fundraising software and databases to track donor interactions, manage campaigns, and generate reports. Provide administrative support to the fundraising team, including relevant data entry, scheduling meetings, and preparing materials for presentations. Represent the organization at community events and networking functions to promote fundraising initiatives and build relationships. Experience and Skills Required: Commitment to Heading Home’s mission Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing) preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and fundraising goals effectively. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software is a plus. A team player with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and volunteers. Must be able to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality Previous experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or customer service is desirable but not required.
