Talarico for Texas is hiring an Organizing Director to join James Talarico’s U.S. Senate campaign. This full-time, senior position is ideal for a proven organizer who thrives on building large-scale volunteer programs, leading teams, and driving voter contact across Texas.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Program Design: Develop and implement a statewide organizing strategy focused on voter contact, persuasion, and turnout. Volunteer Infrastructure: Recruit, train, and retain thousands of volunteers across Texas; build sustainable leadership structures in key regions. Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage a large team of regional organizing staff, and student fellows. Build a team that thrives on consistent coaching, accountability, and support. Voter Contact: Drive execution of canvassing, phone banks, text programs, and other direct voter contact tactics. Metrics & Reporting: Set clear goals and track performance, ensuring the team meets weekly and monthly voter contact and shift benchmarks. Coalition Building: Partner with local organizations, community leaders, labor, and allied campaigns to expand campaign reach and turnout capacity. Technology & Tools: Oversee VAN/MiniVAN systems, data hygiene, and digital organizing tools to maximize efficiency and accuracy. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with communications, digital, and political departments to integrate organizing into campaign-wide strategy. Requirements Experience leading large-scale field or organizing programs (federal, statewide, or large congressional campaign experience preferred). Proven success in managing staff, meeting ambitious voter contact goals, and building volunteer leadership structures. Deep understanding of VAN/MiniVAN, text platforms, and organizing technology. Strong strategic and tactical instincts, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and try new things. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable motivating staff, volunteers, and community partners. Commitment to building diverse, inclusive, and empowering organizing spaces. Comfortable with nontraditional hours, reflecting the pace and demands of a statewide campaign. A sense of humor and resilience — the job will be demanding, but rewarding.
