About the Position: Under limited supervision, the Child Support Specialist IV performs a wide variety of child support duties involving the most difficult and sensitive cases; acts in a lead capacity by training, reviewing, assigning, and directing the work of subordinate staff; acts in the supervisor's absence, assists with low-level administrative functions, and performs related work as required. Examples of Duties

Analyzes and evaluates the more complex and sensitive Child Support cases. Coordinates and conducts interviews with multiple parties (e.g., custodial parent, non-custodial parent, witnesses, employers, attorneys) to obtain and/or verify child support case information. Develops and analyzes information for the establishment of paternity (e.g., genetic tests). Locates absent parents using a variety of methods and tools (e.g., contacting other agencies, databases, web searches). Reviews parental financial income and expense data (e.g., child support payments, expenses, income, ability to pay) to determine support requirements; explains the process by which support is determined to custodial and non-custodial parents. Education, Experience & Licenses Minimum Qualifications:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade One (1) year of full-time experience performing duties comparable to a Child Support Specialist III or Child Support Specialist IV in a state or local government agency OR

Three (3) years of full-time experience performing duties comparable to a Child Support Specialist II in a state or local government agency *Comparable experience performing child support services case management duties. (i.e., Child Support Officer II or III, etc.)

License and Special Requirements: Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Due to IRS Publication 1075 Guidelines as established by the Federal Government and required by California Department of Child Support Services, all employees will be subject to a background check at the time of hiring and at least every 5 years.

Recruitment Information The department is recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy. Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Child Support Specialist IV, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list. Examination Information:

Training & Experience (T&E) Examination - Weighted 100% The Training & Experience Examination is designed to elicit a range of specific information regarding each candidate's knowledge, skill, abilities, and potential to effectively perform the duties relative to the classification. Responses to the questionnaire will be assessed based on the pre-determined rating criteria. All applicants must complete the entire examination to receive a score. To obtain a position on the eligible list, candidates must receive a minimum rating of 70% on the examination. Tentative T&E Examination Dates:

Exams will be emailed to candidates meeting minimum qualifications the week of October 27, 2025. *Candidates will have three (3) days to return a completed examination. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of November 3, 2025.

*Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step. SALARY:

Annual salary step increases based upon satisfactory performance and completion of one year of employment (Step A to E).

HEALTH:

Approximately 80% of the premium for medical, dental, and vision plan is paid by the County (EPO Plan). The plan covers the employee and all eligible dependents at NO ADDITIONAL COST! Employee premiums are $234.54 per month as of January 1, 2025 for employee and all eligible dependents.

PAID LEAVES:

Benefits also include an annual paid leave plan of

96 hours of vacation (increases upon continuous years of service) 96 hours of sick leave 14 paid holidays plus one 8 hour personal holiday

LIFE INSURANCE:

Approximately 80% of the premium for a $30,000 life insurance plan for the employee is paid for by the County.

RETIREMENT:

A retirement plan through CalPERS.

CalPERS Formulas:

Classic member = 2% @ 55 New Member = 2% @ 62

A Deferred Compensation retirement plan option with a County match of up to a maximum of $60 per month.
