U-Haul is searching for a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer to join our development team! Become part of a stable and continually growing IT organization.

Job Duties:

Act as support and domain expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software.

Diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis.

Provide technical guidance to the mainframe development and production support teams on an ad hoc basis.

Learn new technologies as needs arise.

Network with industry contacts to supplement knowledge deficiencies.

Be willing to work remotely with an occasional need to come into the office.

Be willing to work individually and in team settings.

Be willing to work after hours and weekends occasionally.

On rare occasions, be willing to work during vacation for emergencies.

Be an advocate for U-Haul's business teams (learn processes, terminology, and key contacts).

Observe data security standards and practices at all times.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of experience as IBM z/OS System Programmer (System Admin)

Support for new product installation and evaluation as needed

Solid experience in the following technologies: z/OS, Unix System Services, SMP/E, REXX, JCL, VSAM, IDz, RACF and third part products such as BMC Control products, RMM Tape, Vanguard Security, Azure/GIT application software change management, and ADR.

Experience with secure and managed file transfers.

Ability to recognize and resolve complex issues as they arise.

Ability to technical lead on internal team projects that impact the z/OS platform.

Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the organization's needs.

Excellent customer service skills.
