Painters
are responsible for preparing what needs to be painted and mixing the necessary amount of paint. They use a spray gun, determined by specifications, and coat the part. After coating, they must inspect the part to ensure proper coating. Painters are also responsible for maintaining their equipment and workspace through cleaning and light maintenance. • Read, initial, and follow planners and manufacturing work orders. • Select and mix components to prepare coating substances according to specifications. • Apply coatings to part surfaces using spray guns per specifications. • Examine finished surfaces to verify conformity to the specifications. • Clean and maintain tools and equipment using solvents, brushes, and rags. • Prepare parts to be painted, and secure vulnerable parts • Assist the rest of the finish department when needed. • Maintain a regular and reliable schedule as set by the supervisor according to handbook guidelines. • Abide by all safety, quality, personnel, and other policies as applicable.
Work Qualifications: • Formal education: No specific educational requirements. • Experience: Use of a spray gun for painting is preferred. • Computer Skills: Must be able to perform basic computer operations relative to data entry and ERP systems. • Certificates and Licenses: None required. • Medical requirements: Pass spirometry tests.
