The incumbent will provide general front and back office support, escort patients, maintain exam rooms, and perform various duties to support patient care under the direction of a Provider. This position may be assigned to a specialist and may travel to off-site locations as needed. Responsibilities
Prepares treatment rooms for examination, escorts patients to the examining room, obtains brief history, documents chief complaint, and takes vital signs. Assist physicians/clinicians during exams and special procedures; travel to off-site locations to perform diagnostic testing and assist in physical exam components (TB testing, injections, phlebotomy, and others). Administer and record injections and TB testing under supervision/order of the physician. Perform venipuncture and obtain specimens; perform CLIA-waived lab tests; conduct office procedures (e.g., PFT, UDS, EBT, EKG, fit testing) within scope of practice as directed by the provider. Receive and route telephone calls from patients and other parties; relay information to the provider; coordinate medication orders/refills with pharmacies as approved. Perform front office duties including reception, scheduling, chart maintenance, and insurance forms; manage messages and data entry. Coordinate with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing, and referrals; assist case management for employees as needed; perform other related duties as assigned. Support quality patient care and improve patient experience within a team model. Education
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program Required High School Diploma or GED Required Experience
6 months experience as a Medical Assistant Preferred Licenses and Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Completion of an approved MA training program OR equivalent and successful completion of a medical assistant certification exam (certifying organization accredited by NCCA or ANSI) OR completion of a U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program Required Fingerprint Clearance Card Required (Arizona Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites ONLY) or eligibility within seven working days after employment Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., CMA, CCMA, RMA) Preferred; HonorHealth reimbursement available for certification exam; termination policy if certification is not obtained within the assigned period Job Details
