Position Overview
We are seeking a VDC Specialist to play a key role in advancing virtual design and construction processes. This position focuses on translating design documents into precise 3D models, coordinating with project stakeholders, and identifying potential challenges before they impact the field. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor others, while ensuring projects are optimized for fabrication, installation, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with preconstruction, project management, BIM/VDC, field, and fabrication teams to establish project execution strategies. Review design documents for constructability and compliance prior to kickoff. Develop, evaluate, and maintain high-quality VDC models to support coordination and fabrication workflows. Lead quality control checks to ensure models and drawings align with contract requirements and meet project standards. Assess opportunities for prefabrication, packaging, and material delivery improvements. Perform final reviews of fabrication drawings before release to production. Conduct site walks with field managers to identify best practices and gather feedback for design improvements. Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to staff on VDC methods, drafting practices, and safe work procedures. Support continuous improvement by developing and implementing process refinements and productivity initiatives. Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate project updates effectively across teams. Other duties as required to support project and company objectives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 5+ years of relevant VDC/BIM or design coordination experience. Proficiency in Revit and strong knowledge of drafting and design techniques. Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, project scopes, and schedules. Ability to interpret technical documents and translate them into accurate digital models. Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to mentor team members. Experience supporting budget, schedule, and material evaluations within VDC processes.
