GIS Project Specialist (Corp. Real Estate)

The responsibilities include executing projects for CRE (Corporate Real Estate) and for other departments across the Southern Company enterprise to deliver Geographic Information System (GIS) based solutions for data conversion, mapping, data analysis (dashboards), ArcGIS Portal applications, geodatabase management and other related tasks. The position will coordinate with the Supervisor to ensure the business unit meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Job Responsibilities & Expectations
Supports CRE and other customers with GIS solutions and products, and other related tasks
Designs project deliverables based on client need
Develop geoprocessing models and scripts to automate reoccurring tasks
Support Geodatabase design and Management
Stays abreast of current GIS industry trends
Assist with design, deploy, and support mobile and web enabled GIS solutions Supports Supervisor and provides input regarding technology decisions, data acquisitions, project scoping, project workloads and priorities
Conduct and assist with end-user training and creation of self-help documentation

Job Requirements
Education
Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
GIS Professional (GISP) Certification a plus
Experience
Experience in a GIS field of 4 or more years is preferred
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro
Experience managing SQL and/or Oracle databases is a plus
Capable of analyzing spatial data and compiling detailed reports
Experience designing and managing mobile applications
Proficiency with ArcPy/Python/Arcade scripting and geoprocessing is highly desirable
Experience with authoring and managing GIS web services
Understanding and ability to read property descriptions and plot into GIS
Experience with data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of GIS theory and application
Demonstrable ability to fully comprehend user requests and deliver solutions
Broad knowledge of Remote Sensing, Global Positioning System (GPS), and the application of other GIS technologies and current industry trends
Proficiency with ESRI software
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects for multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines
