Overview Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Responsibilities $5,000 sign-on bonus

Greets patient utilizing AIDET, verifies patient in identification, reviews chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions

Informs patients and families about the treatment process and answers questions

Prepares patients for treatment. Positions equipment according to plan

Takes portal films or IGRT scans to ensure treatment protocols are accurately set up and followed

Verifies proper dosage of ionizing radiation for patient as prescribed by physician

Administers treatment to patient

Monitors patient throughout treatment process by checking video monitors and intercom

Informs physician anytime patient experiences distress or side effects related to treatment process

Records each patients’ treatment in EMR and proper notes for accurate treatment and set-up

Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the filed by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and education opportunities

As directed by radiation oncologist, constructs immobilization devices, positions and marks patient during simulation

Work with staff in general scheduling, patient charging and order entry

Participates in scheduled chart round conferences and other quality meetings

Qualifications Education

Satisfactory completion of a JRCERT accredited Radiation Therapy Program

Licenses & Certifications

ARRT (T) boards completion within in 6 month of hire

BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of linear accelerators and record and verify systems

Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment

Ability to manage patients

Ability to follow oral and written instructions
