Insight Global is looking for an estimator to join the team of one of their largest utility clients in the NYC area for a one year long contract to permanent role. This individual will be working on transmission and distribution projects across Manhattan and Staten Island. The ideal candidate will exemplify strong customer service, communication and organizational skills as well as be able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while still meeting deadlines.
Ideal candidates will have experience developing electrical, mechanical and or civil cost estimates for substations and/or transmission projects, as well as have an understanding of capital budget processes and utility economics in the preparation and authorization of budget estimates. This individual should be proficient in Microsoft Project/Office and other estimating computer applications and databases. The core responsibilities for this role will be to develop complex, multidiscipline conceptual, authorization and appropriation cost estimates for multidiscipline substation construction projects and transmission facilities based on scope of work, preliminary drawings and sketches.

Required Skills & Experience - 2-3 years of experience estimating costs for complex electrical projects, especially substations and transmission facilities. - Bachelors Degree - Strong customer service, communication and organizational skills - Experience reading and reviewing civil drawings/providing feedback on drawings - Experience using early sketches and plans to figure out project cost estimates
Nice to Have Skills & Experience - Experience designing and building substation and transmission systems - Utility experience
