Description

Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as a Driver and Champion of Quality Excellence within our fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in elevating both product quality and organizational culture, spanning specialized machining operations through complex assembly processes.

The successful candidate will be a high-impact contributor, guiding cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives that align with our commitment to excellence. The Senior Quality Engineer (QE) serves as a critical liaison between manufacturing operations and the customer, ensuring that all customer quality and regulatory requirements are met with precision and consistency. This role drives proactive and reactive quality initiatives across the organization, championing continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities Customer & Product Introduction Facilitate all quality-related activities for customer product launches within the APQP framework Ensure PPAP target dates are met, and submissions are completed accurately Create, submit, and maintain PPAP documentation in compliance with customer requirements Understand and adhere to customer-specific quality standards and special characteristic requirements Quality Leadership & Problem Solving

Act as the primary customer quality liaison and scorecard improvement champion Lead structured problem-solving efforts and risk assessments using statistical tools and methodologies Drive proactive quality initiatives including mistake-proofing, preventative actions, and continuous improvement Manage reactive quality responses such as containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Performance & Metrics

Facilitate and communicate quality metrics reporting across teams Lead First Pass Yield (FPY) and scrap reduction initiatives Monitor process conformance through audits and data analysis Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure sustained improvements Team Development & Change Management

Coach and mentor cross-functional teams in quality systems, tools, and philosophies Approve product and process changes, deviations, etc.) ensuring customer expectations are met Verify proper implementation of changes and maintain product integrity Audit & Compliance

Support external audit activities related to product quality and regulatory compliance Lead Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and gauging improvement efforts Ensure readiness and alignment for IATF and other external audits

Execute other projects and priorities as assigned by the Plant Quality Manager Safety and Physical Requirements

Proficient in manufacturing problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Fishbone, 3L/5W,8D etc....) Demonstrated working knowledge of core quality tools: Control Plans Process Flow Diagrams FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis) SPC (Statistical Process Control) Strong analytical skills: able to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions Effective presentation and professional communication skills (verbal and written) Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Experience with Minitab and/or statistical analysis software preferred Certified auditor (IATF 16949 preferred) Strong understanding of IATF 16949 and related automotive quality standards Six Sigma Green belt or Shainin RedX certification is a plus Proficient in blueprint reading with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Skilled in tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure dimensional integrity and manufacturability of assemblies Able to interpret complex engineering drawings and identify potential fit, form, and function issues early in the design or production process Good written and verbal technical communication with both internal and external parties SAP Knowledge is a plus Work experience requirements:

The candidate brings extensive experience collaborating with major automotive manufacturers across global markets, demonstrating a deep understanding of diverse quality standards, production systems, and customer expectations:

German OEMs: BMW, Volkswagen (VW), Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) North American OEMs: Stellantis, Ford Motor Company, General Motors (GM) Japanese OEMs: Honda, Nissan, Toyota This broad exposure enables effective navigation of complex customer requirements, cross-cultural communication, and alignment with international quality frameworks such as IATF 16949.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline 7-10 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing or automotive environment Equivalent industry experience of 5+ years may be considered in lieu of formal education, depending on scope and relevance
