Job Summary

The Financial Controller manages the day-to-day operations of the accounting office and supports the Director of Finance and Accounting in providing financial leadership to the business. This role is responsible for financial analysis and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit and compliance, asset and liability reconciliation, and working capital and cash control. The Controller also assists with capital expenditure planning (ROI analysis), owner relations, and owner reporting.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Minimum 2 years of Hotel Accounting accounting/finance experience required. Marriott experience is preferred. Core Work Activities

Leading the Accounting Team

Lead, motivate, and inspire the accounting team through effective communication and strong leadership. Foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and integrity. Ensure policies, procedures, and standards are applied fairly and consistently. Provide recognition, coaching, and development opportunities for team members. Maintaining Finance & Accounting Goals

Ensure timely submission of financial reports and deliverables. Monitor and document profit and loss performance accurately. Oversee tax compliance, accruals, and reporting. Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and manage risks. Track and achieve performance, budget, and departmental goals. Managing Projects & Policies

Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to support decision-making. Ensure P&L accuracy and balance sheet reconciliations are supported with proper documentation. Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audits as necessary. Ensure compliance with Marriott, Coury Hospitality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and local policies. Manage documentation of tax-exempt transactions and ensure tax compliance. Demonstrating and Applying Accounting Knowledge

Apply accounting knowledge, standards, and regulations to daily work. Use systems and reporting tools to analyze financial data. Provide analytical support during budget and forecast reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities. Providing Financial Information & Guidance

Communicate financial performance to executives, managers, and owners in a clear, meaningful way. Provide ongoing financial coaching and support to department leaders. Partner with leadership to ensure financial targets are met and opportunities are leveraged. Advise the Director of Finance on operational and financial matters. Human Resource Management

Support hiring, onboarding, and cross-training within the accounting team. Provide orientation and financial training to property managers. Develop team members through coaching, training, and career development plans. Additional Responsibilities

Present financial results and concepts in clear, persuasive ways. Actively participate in property leadership and critique meetings. Build strong relationships with executives, peers, and ownership groups.
