PROJECT INFORMATION: The project is building a large maintenance building for submarines, that will include the installation of power/lighting/Tele-data, and fire alarm systems.
Excavator Operator
About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating heavy equipment, specifically excavators, to perform tasks such as digging, trenching, grading, and site preparation. The role requires precision, attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Primary tasks will focus on installation of electrical Duct Banks w/ cast in place concrete at depths of between 2 and 6 feet. The backfilling and compaction of excavations is also required and thus preferred skill and experience with both excavation equipment and skid steer and other forms of loaders and trench compaction equipment is a plus
Key Responsibilities: • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to complete construction, excavation, and site preparation tasks. • Perform digging, trenching, grading, and backfilling according to project specifications. • Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes to ensure accurate execution of tasks. • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure the excavator is in good working condition. • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment. • Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members to ensure project timelines and goals are met. • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including hours of operation and materials used.
Qualifications and Skills: • Proven experience as an Excavator Operator (minimum 5 years preferred). • Valid operator certifications and licenses as required by local regulations. • Proficiency in operating various types of excavators and attachments. • Strong understanding of excavation techniques, soil types, and grading requirements. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and technical drawings. • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures. • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with mainly traditional or conventional stick operated and GPS or laser-guided excavation systems. • Additional certifications in heavy equipment operation or construction safety. • Familiarity with other heavy equipment (e.g., bulldozers, loaders, skid steers). • Familiar with maintaining elevation of cuts to within + or - 2 tenths of a foot in elevation. • Ability to work off of established benchmarks and maintain elevation of cuts
