Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join a prestigious global consultancy at their New York City office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take a lead role in cost planning and commercial management on high-profile, complex projects. If you are confident managing budgets, advising clients, and mentoring junior team members within a consultancy environment, we would love to hear from you. Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Lead the preparation and management of cost estimates, tender documentation, and budgets. Advise clients on procurement strategies, value engineering, and risk management. Monitor and report on project costs, forecasting, and financial performance throughout the lifecycle. Negotiate and manage change orders and commercial claims. Lead client meetings, presentations, and contract reviews with key stakeholders. Supervise, mentor, and develop junior cost management staff. Ensure accuracy in cost reporting, billing, and compliance with contractual and industry standards. Collaborate with internal teams including project managers, engineers, and design consultants. To be successful in your application, you will have: 710 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or estimating, preferably within a consultancy environment. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC). Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver accurate, data-driven cost advice. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar. Professional membership or working toward MRICS is desirable.
