The Backend Engineer will join as an early contributor to the technical team, working directly with founding engineers and leadership to design and build the company's core systems. The role requires balancing scalability, speed, and reliability as the platform expands. This is a high-ownership opportunity to shape both the architecture and culture of the engineering team. Responsibilities Design and implement backend services and APIs that power the marketplace. Collaborate closely with founding engineers and product stakeholders. Build scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure to support growing user demand. Contribute to technical decisions, architecture, and best practices. Participate in a fast-moving, high-standards engineering culture. Ideal Candidate 0-6 years of engineering experience. Strong backend development skills (modern languages and frameworks). Solid understanding of building and maintaining scalable systems. Ability to work fully on-site in San Francisco. Thrives in an early-stage, high-growth startup environment.
