POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will support and maintain various EHS program areas, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves managing worker's compensation, employee medical and personnel records, and supporting special projects. The EHS function at our shipyard covers heavy manufacturing activities in fab shops and waterfront operations across a 56-acre facility. The successful candidate will support over 1,000 employees, focusing on safety, environmental awareness, and manufacturing efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to: Maintain confidential occupational health medical records. Assist with new employee, contractor, and visitor orientations. Manage employee occupational health and safety training files. Provide routine support on EHS matters to staff. Prepare reports for senior leadership as required. Assist with special projects and assignments. Monitor and track workers' compensation programs. Utilize Learning Management Software for training compliance. Organize medical surveillance for industrial hygiene. Manage PPE reimbursement documentation. Support EHS functions in primary or backup roles. Ensure environmental compliance with regulations. Collect and report injury data appropriately. Monitor OSHA rates and generate regular reports. Collect material samples for occupational health data. Document incidents to identify causes and prevent future occurrences. Analyze and recommend measures to protect workers from hazards. Support safety training and demonstrate safety equipment use. Coordinate medical appointments with providers. Assist in developing materials for new employee orientations. Inspect areas for safety and fire prevention equipment. Handle minor medical treatments and triage injuries. Conduct safety training sessions, including PowerPoint presentations. Provide environmental training on compliance requirements. Update job safety analyses and SOPs. Coordinate confined space and scaffolding safety measures. Conduct and analyze DOT drug and breath alcohol testing.
