Senior Technical Lead, Special Projects (Automation & Augmentation)
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build fast, cost-efficient, and climate-resilient homes for everyone. Through our modular building platform and highly automated production process, we reduce costs, shorten delivery times, and lower embodied carbon for housing projects of all sizesfrom single-family homes to large multifamily developments. Our first software-driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA) is just the beginning of our national expansion. Backed by leading venture capital firms in the industrial and construction sectors, we are transforming how homes are built. What You'll Do
Design and deploy special projects that augment operators using projection, inkjet, and digital interfaces to drive intent on the factory floor. Integrate advanced sensing systems, including vision for quality inspection, UWB for localization, and real-time feedback loops. Build electromechanical subsystemsfixtures, robotic tools, material-handling devicesthat connect seamlessly with software-first interfaces. Develop and prototype AI- and data-driven solutions to optimize throughput, reduce errors, and simplify decision-making. Lead scrappy prototyping and iterative testing, rapidly moving from concept to production-ready systems. Collaborate with software, manufacturing, and mechanical teams to deliver solutions that combine code, sensors, and machines into cohesive workflows. Document technical learnings and establish reusable patterns for software-driven augmentation across future factories. What We're Looking For
Proven experience leading projects at the intersection of robotics, mechatronics, and software-driven automation. Hands-on skills with mechanical design, motion systems, and electromechanical integration. Strong software skills (Python, C++, ROS, vision frameworks, industrial APIs) for building interfaces, controls, and intelligent automation. Experience with sensing technologies: vision, UWB localization, projection, or similar operator-augmentation tools. Demonstrated ability to take ideas from prototype to production in a factory or high-stakes environment. High agency, problem-solving mindset, and comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces. Bonus: experience applying AI/ML for quality, workflow optimization, or predictive automation. If you don't meet every qualification but are excited about our mission, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse skills and perspectives.
