Facilities Technician / HVAC Technician
You will be responsible for loading and unloading equipment/supplies, performing basic preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and conducting minor repairs to ensure equipment operates efficiently and experiences minimal downtime. You will be working with a crew of technicians partnering together and sometimes working individual based on work orders. Repair and maintain Power/HVAC/Compressor/Pump equipment and accessories. Load and unload equipment safely and effectively. Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment. Conduct minor repairs to avoid equipment downtime. Ensure all operations are conducted in the safest manner possible. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience in repairing and maintaining Power/HVAC/Compressor/Pump equipment and accessories. Basic knowledge of generators, power distribution, A/C, Heater, HVAC, and Diesel driven pumps. Understanding of diesel equipment, electronics, and hydraulics. (Highly Preferred, not required) Additional Skills & Qualifications EPA Universal certification Experience in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, generator, hydraulics, and electronics. This position requires the Newport News Shipbuilding Screening to gain clearance to the yard. Shift: 1st shift Monday - Friday Work Environment The role requires physical activity such as bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and lifting 25 pounds or more. The work is performed both indoors and outdoors as required. Initially, work will be conducted in a shop at the Chesapeake location for training and occasionally will need to report there. Once training is complete all the day to day work is done at Newport News Shipyard to maintain rental HVAC systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News and Chesapeake, VA IMPORTANT: Once training is complete you will report onsite to the Newport News Shipyard, but in the first 1-3 weeks you will complete training out of the Chesapeake, VA office. You will need to be open to doing this commute temporarily until you are able to report directly in Newport News (your own vehicle and reliable transportation is important for this position) Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
