Position Summary:
This therapist position plays a crucial role in helping court-involved youth navigate the challenges they face, ensuring that they receive the therapeutic services and community support they need to successfully remain or reintegrate into society. The Therapist for Court-Involved Youth will provide individual and group therapy services to youth involved in the juvenile justice system in Judicial District 22, Saline County. This position involves delivering therapeutic interventions in various settings, including clinic, local schools, and community-based locations. The therapist will work closely with the Director, Juvenile Re-Entry Services, to support the prevention, intervention, reintegration and rehabilitation of court-involved youth.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Clinical Assessment and Treatment Planning: o Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to identify emotional, behavioral, and psychological needs of court-involved youth. o Develop individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of youth involved in the justice system, considering family dynamics, school issues, and community factors. o Collaborate with the Director, Juvenile Re-Entry Services, to develop a holistic treatment plan. 2. Therapy and Counseling: o Provide individual, group, and family therapy to court-involved youth to address a range of mental health issues, including trauma, substance abuse, anger management, and behavioral disorders. o Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). o Implement therapeutic strategies designed to promote positive behavior change, enhance emotional regulation, and improve coping skills. o Maintain strong communication with families and guardians, providing regular updates and recommendations for progress. 3. Crisis Intervention: o Provide crisis intervention services in emergency situations, both in the clinic and during school/community visits, to address immediate mental health or behavioral concerns. o Assess risk factors related to suicide, self-harm, aggression, and substance use and implement appropriate interventions.
4. Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in compliance with legal and ethical guidelines. o Prepare reports for the court, probation officers, and other stakeholders, outlining treatment progress and recommendations. o Document all client interactions and treatment goals in a timely and professional manner, ensuring compliance with confidentiality laws. o Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services. 5. Community and School Outreach: o Provide in-school therapy and support to youth, collaborating with school personnel to address behavioral issues and improve academic outcomes. o Develop and deliver psychoeducational workshops for youth, families, and school staff on topics like conflict resolution, anger management, and healthy coping strategies. o Participate in community-based initiatives designed to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of court-involved youth. 6. Professional Development and Training: o Stay current with best practices, trends, and legal requirements related to therapy and juvenile justice. o Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities. o Attend supervision and team meetings to enhance therapeutic skills and provide case consultation.

Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LPC, LAC, LMSW) with experience in youth services in a school and community-based setting.
