Title: Quality Lab Technician
Pay Rate:$19 per hour
Work Schedule:M-F 7 AM-3:30 PM
Location:8850 59th Ave NE, Brooks, OR, USA, 97305
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field, OR 1-2 years experience. Must be: *detail-oriented *comfortable with redundant tasks *able to self-manage time once training is complete
Responsibilities:
Support the Quality Control Seed Health lab by performing standardized processes and quality control testing. Complete standardized procedures for detection and quantification of bacteria, viruses, and fungi in vegetable seeds Read and understand work instructions and procedures Apply aseptic technique and defined hygiene procedures to ensure quality and containment of plant pathogens Accurately record and enter test results Perform repetitive work while maintaining focus on detail and quality (e.g. grinding vegetable seeds, washing lab dishes, and autoclaving materials) Recognize and report deviations from standard procedures Learn and follow safety procedures Contribute to enhancing safety culture Contribute to miscellaneous lab improvement projects Apply basic laboratory and math skills Follows standardized protocols and report any deviations Reliable team contributor Strong communicator Ability to prioritize and multitask Laboratory work, including growth room/chamber Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and bending performing repetitive tasks Occasional lifting 30-40 lbs., frequent lifting of 15-20 lbs. Notes This is a part-time position. Flexibility in days per week. Prefer someone to work 3 days Mon-Thurs, but ok with Friday if needed. Average will be 24-30 hours per week, maybe a 40 hour week if it gets busy.
