Schreiner University seeks a Director of Student Financial Services to join its team of professionals dedicated to providing high-quality student-centered service. The Director of Student Financial Services reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and oversees the administration of student financial aid and student billing and supervises a team of six full-time employees. This position plays a key role in the recruitment and retention of students. Schreiner University, enrolls 1,200 full and part-time students and is committed to a financial aid program that makes a Schreiner University education affordable to as many students as possible.

The incumbent will be forward thinking, able to provide leadership that leverages the skills of an experienced team, supports high quality service to students and parents, have vision for maintaining and improving work-flow and service, and be able to work collaboratively in a diverse community of student, staff and faculty.

Key responsibilities include oversight of institutional, state and Title IV financial aid compliance, student billing, and the administration of Schreiner University's institutional financial aid program.

Ensuring the integrity of the College's financial aid packaging strategy supports the College's mission and philosophy, Working closely with Admission to help maximize the enrollment of new students. The audits of financial aid and student billing, Monitoring and overseeing student account collections, Collaborating with internal and external campus partners to align Student Financial Services policies with college initiatives, Participating in and monitoring the University's financial aid budgeting process, Overseeing the development and revision of policies and procedures designed to provide the necessary internal controls and compliance with federal, state and institutional policies and procedures. Working closely with IT to ensure the Department's systems are optimized including the Department's PowerFAIDS/Jenzabar financial aid management system. maintain a clear line of communication and collaboration with the Controller as a primarily function impacts the business operations of the university with student account

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of direct supervision, University student financial aid experience of at least 5 years; private university preferred, having served at the assistant or associate director level. Understanding of discount rates within the awarding spectrum. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Ability to relate to students, parents, faculty, staff and external groups. Excellent quantitative and budget management skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and ability to learn software package and other software packages, including PowerFaids, Jenzabar, and Microsoft Office.
