Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the Agriculture Education & Family and Consumer Sciences (AEFCS) Office, the Education Program Consultant is responsible for the supervision of high school programs of agricultural education in the Superior Region of the state. The consultant provides on-site technical assistance to all phases of local programs and assists school districts in meeting federal and state requirements for agriculture education. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide teachers, counselors, principals, superintendents, and others technical assistance to maintain and strengthen local programs; review and evaluate local programs; promote the initiation of new programs; supervise the administration and use of state and federal funds and assist in the placement of teachers.

• Collect and process applications and reports regarding agriculture incentive grant, program and student enrollment data, and participate in region and/or state committees and task forces as assigned.

• Conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings to improve teacher performance; oversee regional and sectional in-service activities; assist programs and agencies providing professional development for teachers integrating agriculture in the curriculum and assist teacher preparation programs.

• Organize Future Farmers of America (FFA) activities within a geographical region and statewide and promote leadership development for all students. Serve as regional advisor to student officers.

• Maintain contact with business and industry groups in agriculture-related fields; maintain liaison with post-secondary institutions and other agencies providing agriculture education; participate in staff meetings and cooperate with other units and divisions.
