Macpower Digital Assets Edge
Optical Mechanical Engineer (R&D Team)
Macpower Digital Assets Edge, Santa Clara, California, us, 95053
bout the Role:
This position is within a leading Semiconductor Infrastructure Solutions (SIS) organization.
We design and manufacture laser interferometry systems, precision optical components, complex monolithic optics (CMOs), and advanced electronic measurement solutions.
Our systems deliver high precision across a wide dynamic range with multiple degrees of freedom, ensuring top-tier accuracy in both air and vacuum.
Key
Responsibilities:
Define, develop, test, and launch solutions for next-generation metrology products. Collaborate with engineers and technicians on systems that include lasers, polarizing optics, fiber optics, precision mechanics, and electronics. Develop precision instruments incorporating optics, lasers, or related components. Specify manufacturing tools and processes alongside concurrent product development. Transform concepts and strategies into structured R&D projects. Make critical technical decisions that support customer success through product innovation. Education & Experience:
Minimum 7 years of experience. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Proven experience taking concepts from prototype through volume production. Deep knowledge of precision mechanical design principles for tools and products. Expertise in one or more of the following: kinematic design, optics, adhesives, vacuum systems, precision machining. Self-motivated and able to independently translate objectives into results with consistent schedule delivery. Proficient with CAD tools (experience in Siemens NX) and FEA analysis (experience in ANSYS). Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams at all levels. Preferred Skills:
Direct design experience with precision opto-mechanical products such as lasers, interferometers, or fiber-optic collimators. Familiarity with optical design principles and ray-tracing software (Zemax, FRED, or equivalent). Experience in semiconductor capital equipment or precision motion controls. dvanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or similar.
