We're assisting a well-funded startup in the expert insights space with their search for a founding engineer. Their product allows clients to find experts and get answers in days instead of weeks. The role will be a remote position to start but eventually will be a hybrid role in the Boston area.

What you'll do:

Build Core Systems: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions. Contribute to the Architecture: Contribute to the technical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance of systems. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product, design, and ML teams to translate business goals into robust features. Advise and Guide: Provide technical guidance when needed to less experienced engineers and help shape a high-performance, collaborative culture. Innovate: Leverage emerging technologies in AI/ML, generative AI, and hybrid search to enhance product capabilities. Shape Engineering Culture: As a founding team member, influence team practices, tooling, and values from the ground up What you'll bring:

Experience: 7+ years in full-stack software development, ideally with experience in early-stage or high-growth startups. Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker. Experience with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and/or vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone) is a big plus. Product Mindset: Strong collaboration with product teams, with an ability to balance speed, quality, and user impact. Startup Experience: A dynamic, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving. Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a "get-it-done" attitude. Problem-Solving: Skilled at designing resilient systems and debugging complex issues in live environments. Team Collaboration: Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with team members from varied cultural backgrounds. Communication Skills: Strong ability to clearly communicate to both technical and to a lesser extent business audiences
