JOB SUMMARY: The Dougherty County School System (DCSS) is seeking a Rout Coordinator to oversee the planning, organization, and management of daily school bus routes. This position plays a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable student transportation. The Route Coordinator works closely with bus drivers, school leaders, parents, and students to anticipate needs, solve problems, and deliver high-quality service.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Business or related field; Five years' experience in transportation operations; Five years of experience with bus routing; Must possess a commercial driver's license; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong written and verbal communication skills; Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and Google Suite; Ability to plan and optimize bus routes efficiently and cost effectiveness; Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; Proficiency in developing and adjusting schedules as needed; Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to address concerns from parents, staff, and students with professionalism and empathy. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Director and Assistant Director in carrying out the functions and responsibilities of the District's Transportation Department; Develops and optimizes bus routes to accommodate district needs, ensuring minimal delays and maximum efficiency; Monitors changes in enrollment, traffic patterns, and construction to make timely routing adjustments; Communicates route changes, delays, or cancellations to stakeholders promptly and clearly; Ensures all routes comply with state and local regulations, including safety and operational standards; Provides guidance and training to bus drivers regarding routes, safety expectations, and procedures; Prepares and submits reports on transportation performance, incidents, and other relevant metrics; Collaborate with district staff to reconcile student information systems with routing needs; Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.
