Description
Under immediate supervision, performs routine un-skilled manual work. Examples of Duties This position helps in the delivery of carts for the yard waste, recycling, and refuse programs. This position may also perform other laborer functions inside the Sanitation Department such as: refuse collection, or brush and leaf collection when needed. Uses equipment to clean sidewalks of debris, rakes and vacuums leaves for collection during leaf season, and loads trash into rear load packers.
Some weekend work required.
Typical Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eleventh grade and considerable experience in the performance of heavy manual work. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
