Position Summary
The Used Car Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of all pre-owned vehicles acquired by Ingersoll Auto of Danbury. This role ensures that vehicles meet company standards for safety, quality, and presentation prior to being added to inventory or sold. The inspector will evaluate mechanical, cosmetic, and safety conditions, prepare detailed reports, and make recommendations for reconditioning or repair.
Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections on incoming used vehicles, including test drives and diagnostic checks. Document findings in inspection reports, noting safety concerns, cosmetic damages, and mechanical issues. Work closely with the Service Department to prioritize and schedule required reconditioning or repairs. Verify vehicle identification numbers (VIN), mileage, and title information for accuracy. Ensure vehicles comply with state safety and emissions standards. Collaborate with Sales Managers to determine retail readiness and wholesale viability. Maintain accurate records of inspection results and recommended actions. Assist in developing and maintaining consistent inspection standards across the dealership. Provide clear communication regarding inspection outcomes to both management and service personnel. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or automotive training preferred. Prior experience in automotive inspection, service, or reconditioning strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, safety standards, and repair practices. Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Compensation & Benefits
