Description
The Assistant Athletic Director, Advancement - Annual Giving, is responsible for developing, executing, and managing a comprehensive annual giving program to support Hampton University Athletics. This position will focus on increasing philanthropic support from alumni, parents, fans, and friends, working closely with the Athletics Advancement and University Advancement teams to foster a culture of giving and engagement.
Examples of Duties
Design, implement, and manage annual giving strategies and campaigns for Hampton University Athletics, including direct mail, email, digital outreach, and phonathons. Build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and supporters, serving as a primary point of contact for annual giving inquiries and stewardship. Collaborate with the Athletics Advancement team to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for annual gifts, and coordinate with major gift officers as needed. Analyze giving data, generate reports, and use metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and inform future strategies. Oversee gift processing, acknowledgments, and stewardship activities in coordination with the Advancement Services team, ensuring timely and accurate donor recognition. Plan and execute donor engagement and recognition events, including game-day hospitality, special receptions, and virtual events. Work with athletics marketing, communications, and fan engagement teams to integrate annual giving messaging into broader departmental initiatives. Support the development of fundraising collateral, appeals, and digital content to inspire giving and communicate impact. Maintain accurate donor records and ensure compliance with University and NCAA policies and procedures. Assist with budget development and management for annual giving initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD, Advancement, or Director of Athletics. Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in annual giving, fundraising, or advancement, preferably in collegiate athletics or higher education. Demonstrated success in developing and executing fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies. Supplemental Information
Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making and reporting. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse constituencies. Proficiency with fundraising databases (e.g., Banner, Raiser's Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required for events and donor meetings.
